WHAT IS SEO?

The term refers to search engine optimization, and it involves improving your ranking position on Google for specific keywords. The higher your website ranks on Google, the more traffic you will receive, and the more customers you will accumulate. Its become one of the most vital tools in growing and expanding your trade online.

WHY IS GOOGLE TRAFFIC SO IMPORTANT?

Google traffic is considered one of the highest converting traffic sources on the internet today. People are putting in the effort to search for specific products and services online. If you meet the browser’s demands, he or she could end up becoming a loyal customer or purchase a product from your website.

Quote: “Today it’s not about ‘get the traffic’ — it’s about ‘get the targeted and relevant traffic.” – Adam Audette

WHERE TO START?

The first and most important part of SEO is creating a highly optimized website. A highly optimized website provides useful information, fast and secure loading pages, and a comfortable browsing experience.

Quote: “Google only loves you when everyone else loves you first.” – Wendy Piersall.

Here are some insightful facts on how to create a website. Google will take notice of:

  1. Lots of Information

Google likes websites that contain loads of valuable and informative facts. When building a website, make sure the information and articles you present are long and correctly written. Website information and articles must not contain any grammar or spelling mistakes.

Quote: “Content is anything that adds value to the reader’s life.” — Avinash Kaushik

  1. Lots of Web-Pages

Google does not favor a website that is less than six web-pages long. Your website should contain lots of web-pages with lots of information. Do not build one-page websites. Websites with multiple web-pages have multiple URLs and allow marketers to target more keywords in SEO Campaigns.

Quote: “You can’t sell anything if you can’t tell anything.”– Beth Comstock

  1. Correct Meta Title and Meta Description

It’s essential to update your Meta Title and Meta description accordingly. If you do not know how to do this, ask your website designer, or use a WordPress platform, download the Yoast Plugin and easily update it there.

Meta Title

It is the title displayed on Google. You must include your business name and primary keywords you would want to rank on page 1 of Google.

Meta Description

It is the description displayed on Google. You must include your secondary keywords, as well as the city and country of your business location.

  1. Fast Loading Website Speeds

Websites need to download quickly on a user’s device. People have little patience when browsing the internet, and if a website takes long to load, there’s a high chance the browsing person will leave. Test your website speed on https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/.

  1. Mobile-Friendly Interface

The majority of people browse on their phones today. If your website is not mobile-friendly, you will frustrate your website users, and Google will not rank your website on Page 1 until you have supplied this option. Test to see if your website is mobile-friendly with https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly.

  1. SSL Certificate

SSL Certificates provide a safe exchange of information between website users and website owners. If a website does not contain an SSL Certificate, personal information such as credit card details can be intercepted. Google has made it clear it wants ALL websites to include an SSL Certificate.

  1. Images, Videos, and Icons

Media is an integral part of SEO. Google notices a website that is full of images, icons, videos, and other media sorts. Media also makes a website more engaging and user-friendly. They are having videos displayed on all the web-pages that can earn you big ranking points.

Quote: “My rule of thumb is build a site for a user, not a spider.”

  1. Ease of Navigation

Websites should follow tradition and make the navigational process quick and straightforward for the browsing user. Google studies how a user engages with your website. Good experiences are rewarded with SEO points. Poor experiences are penalized with lowered rankings.

Quote: “If you’re not meeting your visitors’ needs, it doesn’t matter how ‘optimized’ your site is.” — Stoney deGeyter

  1. Malware and Virus Protection

The internet is full of malware and virus programs. It’s essential to protect your website from these programs as they can destroy your website, divert your traffic, and get your website blacklisted on Google. If Google finds viruses on your site, you will lose your ranking position and be placed on a blacklist until you have removed the viruses.

WHAT NEXT?

Once you have optimized your website, you will need to find an experienced and professional SEO company in Johannesburg to build backlinks to your website.

Quote: “You can’t just ‘SEO’ your website and be done. It’s a forever moving goal post.” — Stoney deGeyter

What are backlinks?

Backlinks are the means whereby a website will link back to your website, either through a text link, button link, or even image link.

Why Are Backlinks Important?

Google measures a website’s popularity based on the number and quality of sites that link back to the website. The more websites that link back to your website, the better; however, these websites need high-quality websites. Linking to low-quality sites will hurt your rankings, not help them.

How Do You Build Backlinks

It is where SEO companies come into the picture. Only SEO professionals should build backlinks. Building links is a tricky business, and not implementing the correct techniques will lower your rankings and potentially lead to a Google penalty. When it comes to backlinks, you need to find a reputable provider who will implement smart and long-lasting results.

SEO Company in South Africa

SEO is an ever-evolving process, which means SEO businesses need to stay up to date with Google’s systems. Many companies do not comply with Google’s algorithm updates and fall behind on their SEO efforts. Its important to look into reviews before approaching a reputable company to build links for your website.
