RM Capital Helps Suppliers Fund Big Orders Without Bank Debt

You are here: Home / Banking and Financial Services / RM Capital Helps Suppliers Fund Big Orders Without Bank Debt

(MyPR.co.za) August 13, 2026 By //  by Joshua Maraney Filed Under: Banking and Financial Services, Featured Edit This Article

Few things are as frustrating for an ambitious South African business as landing a major order and then realising there is not enough cash on hand to pay the supplier who must make or ship the goods. In August 2026, RM Capital is highlighting exactly this scenario. The Johannesburg based funder specialises in short to medium-term working capital and cashflow solutions, and its role is to bridge that gap so that a confirmed order turns into a completed sale instead of a lost chance.

The product built for precisely this situation is Purchase Order Funding, which settles a supplier’s bill up front for goods that a business has already sold to a customer. Rather than declining the order or borrowing against its own assets, the company can say yes, get its supplier paid, deliver on schedule and repay once the customer pays. RM Capital covers up to 100% of the purchase order cost, so the supplier receives full payment without the business having to drain its own cash first.

The facility is aimed at entrepreneurs and growth businesses dealing in finished goods, raw materials or components, selling either to other companies or to government departments. RM Capital supports suppliers whose orders involve supply and delivery, where the supplier or a reputable third party carries out the delivery, and where the order carries a healthy profit margin. Fields like construction, cleaning and security services sit outside the scope of the product, yet for firms shifting physical goods it can mark the line between expansion and stagnation.

Part of the appeal of Purchase Order financing over a conventional loan is that it neither piles on bank debt nor forces the owner to surrender equity. In most cases RM Capital arranges the deal as an invoice factoring transaction, buying the right to the payment owed by the customer instead of lending against the company. Since factoring is not a loan, ownership stays where it is and the drawn-out approval timelines typical of bank facilities are sidestepped.

Orders from government and large corporates receive special attention. Suppliers who secure tenders or framework agreements frequently juggle tight delivery deadlines against suppliers who insist on payment before manufacturing begins. By meeting the supplier’s cost in advance, purchase order funding allows these businesses to satisfy a tender’s delivery terms without stretching their reserves, and without waiting to line up new bank finance for every award.

Every transaction is judged on its own merits at RM Capital. A key factor is how creditworthy the customer placing the order is, given that repayment happens when that customer pays. The team likewise examines the supplier to be sure it has the standing and capacity to deliver what has been ordered. Weighing the strength of the deal itself, rather than the applicant’s balance sheet alone, is one reason newer and fast-moving firms find the model practical.

What distinguishes RM Capital from many Purchase Order Funding Companies is that clients speak straight to the people who make the calls. The firm characterises its method as building innovative and customised funding solutions shaped around each client’s particular needs, instead of pushing one off-the-shelf product. The money can serve cashflow, working capital, or act as a financial bridge linked to a specific exit event, with the structure moulded to the order at hand.

Purchase order funding is one of several cashflow products from RM Capital. The funder supplies accounts factoring for advocates of the South African Bar and other professionals including doctors, accountants, engineers and architects, with approval possible inside 24 hours and paperwork kept light. It also offers invoice discounting, which turns unpaid invoices into an asset a business can borrow against to raise cash fast, plus structured finance for more intricate needs. Combined, these hand growth companies a menu of choices instead of one inflexible facility.

Timing is a big part of the story. As South African firms gear up for the busier trading season ahead, plenty are being asked to fill orders bigger than any they have taken on before. Confirmed purchase orders from trustworthy buyers signal momentum, but they also put genuine strain on supplier payments. RM Capital maintains that a well-priced order backed by a creditworthy customer should never slip away simply for lack of short-term capital.

For many owners, the draw is as much about assurance as about money. Knowing the supplier will be paid lets a business bid on larger contracts and pledge delivery dates without hesitation. In time, delivering on bigger orders can lift a company’s reputation with both customers and suppliers, which can in turn lead to more work.

RM Capital notes that the funding delivers the most value when a business already holds a clear, confirmed order and has a reliable supplier lined up. It is not designed to bankroll speculative stock or to plug general operating gaps. Its sweet spot is bridging a signed order and the payment that follows, which is why the assessment centres on the individual transaction rather than sweeping projections.

This deal-driven approach also means a first-time client and a returning client are measured the same way, on the strength of the transaction before them. For growth businesses expecting their order book to keep growing, that consistency turns the facility into one they can come back to with each fresh opportunity.

The process is meant to be simple. The business forwards RM Capital a copy of the purchase order or signed appointment letter, along with the supplier agreement, pro-forma invoice or quotation. RM Capital then examines the transaction, verifies the required details with the applicant, and proceeds to approval and funding. For a company facing an order it cannot yet afford, that clarity can matter as much as the money itself.

Anyone wanting to see how the process runs, or to confirm whether a specific order qualifies, will find complete information on the RM Capital website at https://www.rmcapital.co.za/.
