African Directory Services Sponsors Durban Beach Shelter with a Website!
African Directory Services (ADS) has sponsored the Durban Beach Shelter with a free website. ADS designed a brand new website and logo for the non-profit organization. The Durban Beach Shelter was established in 1998 by Mr. Deen Mohamed. The primary focus of the shelter is to enhance the lives of the underprivileged and destitute through a variety of programs therefore assisting them in becoming independent and sustainable as well as giving them access to education and social welfare. The question that ADS was faced with is, what do you give an organization that’s in dire need of funding? A website of course! Shane Hiralall a Director at African Directory Services said, “We’re living in a 'tech-era' where everything is online, instant and millions of people turn to the internet as the first source for information. The only way that people know an organization exists is if they are listed online. If it's not found on the net, chances are that many people are not knowledgeable about it and as a result of that, are not likely to donate to your cause.” As the costs of basic necessities continue to rise, the expense of developing and maintaining a website is a luxury for Charity Organizations. This is why African Directory Services took the decision to develop and host a brand new website for the Durban Beach Shelter. ADS has exceptional web design and hosting services and as a company we are thrilled that we could assist the Durban Beach Shelter. We encourage you to donate to their worthy cause. ADSlive interview with Amanda Sibiya
African Directory Services (ADS) successfully launched the ADSlive Internship Programme on the 1st of March 2013. The internship program is a step towards addressing the work experience lack that graduates face after their qualification is complete. The internship also exists to groom and train budding professionals in the industry. Education and skill development is a core focus when it comes to the corporate social values of African Directory Services. A Director of ADS said that even though they are a small enterprise, they are doing what they can to contribute to students and workplace experience. The ADSlive Internship Programme runs as a three month programme giving students a taste of the working world. With exposure to real projects, students are able to walk away from the internship program with sharpened skills and a better grasp of what’s expected from them when they step into their careers. Amanda Sibiya, a student from the Centre for Fine Art, Animation and Graphic Design studying towards her Multimedia Diploma was the first intern to enter into the ADSlive Internship Programme. We sat down with Amanda to hear what she had to say about her internship experience. Q: What are your thoughts on the ADSlive Internship Programme? A: I enjoyed it a lot, it was really nice. I didn’t feel like it was an internship because I felt like a real employee. I got the chance to do real work and had to deal with real clients. I was responsible for the graphic design work done for my clients and I enjoyed that responsibility. Q: Has it helped you? A: Yes it has, drastically so. I’ve learnt so much. Even though we’ve been taught how to use Photoshop at school I’ve learnt how to improve my skills through this internship, I actually apply that knowledge in my school projects and it’s helping a lot. I’ve also learnt a great deal about work processes and how to go about starting a project from a concept to the end product. Q: Did you find any differences between …

African Directory Services Warns Customers to be Careful of “me–too” Companies
African Directory Services (ADS) warns customers to be cautious of fly by night companies that are trying to scam them. Director Ruben Ackerman said, “ADS has been trading for 7 years to date and has built up a significant client base that we are one hundred percent loyal to, delivering advertising excellence. However there are imitators and ‘me-too companies’ in the industry and customers need to stay guarded.” As defined by The American Heritage® Dictionary of Business Terms a me-too product is “A product that is very similar to products manufactured by other companies and already on the market.” The desired effect of this strategy is to rapidly gain market share or make quick profits by confusing customers with a trusted product/service, and their new, insubstantial and more likely to be and fraudulent products/services. Fundamentally, this leads to various negative implications for a company’s reputation and brand. African Directory Services prides itself in delivering quality products and services to their customers and will never try to con clients out of their money, or make a promise that they cannot deliver on. ADS cautions clients to be vigilant of fly by night companies. If you are not sure if a company is valid please pay attention to the following: The African Directory Services has an exceptionally designed website that contains a list of all our products and services as well as a blog and features social media pages that are updated regularly. Fraudulent companies generally have a poor website design with limited information and no relevant social media pages or dedicated blogs. African Directory Services registered with Proudly SA and the Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town Chamber of commerce. Fraudulent companies do not meet the criteria to be affiliated with these associations.
