If you don’t have time, you can get a pair of our funky shoelaces called “tekkie tags”. This way you won’t be ashamed because you can’t tell the colour of your tekkies anymore. Tekkie Tax celebrates their second year of sucess
The beneficiary organisations of the national Tekkie Tax Day announced the amount of money that was raised in their 2014 campaign with a massive ‘Tekkie Telebration’ at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways. Participants, donors and individuals who joined in the fun on 30 May 2014 raised R4.8 million for various welfare organisations in South Africa. This is a 114% growth on the 2013 campaign and brings the total amount raised with national Tekkie Tax Day to R7,2 million. Child Welfare SA said “Tekkie Tax is a great initiative to assist NGO's to raise funds and market them.” The event was joined by members of the media, participating companies, NGOs and the four Business Ambassadors of the project. Sade Giliberti, well known South African television presenter was the MC for the morning. Joining her on the stage was Gayle Rey who touched the audience’s heart when she told her life story of how her husband was left disabled after a polo accident 10 years ago. Imbalie Beauty won the award for most stickers sold in Gauteng and Epilepsy SA Mpumalanga & Limpopo won the award for most stickers sold by an NGO. The proof of the success and support that this campaign had was mirrored in the people that supported it. The beneficiaries would like to thank the media, each individual, celebrity, NGO and company that supported the Tekkie Tax campaign in 2014 by wearing a sticker and a pair of the campaign’s funky shoelaces on 30 May. All proceeds have already been distributed to the beneficiary organisations. And where did the heart of the people lie in 2014? 31% of the participating audience chose a C sticker, representing Children, making this the most supported sector for the second year in a row! Tekkie Tax celebrate it’s new Disability Ambassador
Tekkie Tax recently announced that Michelene Toms will be the Disability Ambassador for the 2014 Tekkie Tax project. Michelene is a single mom with four children and two foster children. She is a property investor and runs a very successful student accommodation business. Michelene stated that “South Africa had a great need for a fundraising campaign like Tekkie Tax that includes the whole spectrum of welfare organisations from animals, basic family care, children disability to education. There are so many fundraising campaigns where the money never reaches the welfare organisations on ground level. With Tekkie Tax you have the assurance that the money really does reach ground level. To be one of the ambassadors for Tekkie Tax is my way of giving thanks to God for all the wonderful blessings that he has bestowed upon me. It is an honour to work with such a dedicated and devoted organisation and extraordinary people like Annelise and her staff at Tekkie Tax.” Michelene decided on the disability sector because of her love and compassion for people living with a disability. According to Michelene, “people living with disabilities are often the forgotten people of our society, and if you only take some time to spend with a person living with a disability, you might be surprised by how much they can inspire you.” In the spirit of Michelene joining the project, the Tekkie Tax family hosted her birthday party at Aanhouwen Work and Care Centre for the disabled in Somerset West. Aanhouwen is a multi-cultural and multi-racial work and care centre providing daily for 65 members aged between 18 and 66, with 60% being from previously disadvantaged communities. They enable mentally handicapped adults to participate in constructive and meaningful activities. By developing their skills, they enable them to be active and productive in the community. Tekkie Tax Celebrate New Child Ambassador
The Tekkie Tax fundraising campaign is proud to announce the recently appointed ambassador for the Children’s sector of the project. Hilda Lunderstedt joined forces with Tekkie Tax and will serve as the ambassador for the children’s sector in the 2014 Tekkie Tax project. Hilda is a successful business woman who is responsible for growing South Africa’s most successful pharmaceutical company to a 9-digit annual revenue. After the recent sale of the company Hilda now focus on investments in businesses within the Beauty and Health sectors, both in South Africa and internationally. Annelise de Jager, National Project Organiser said “it is heartwarming to see that prominent business people like Hilda, supports our work. She is skilled in so many ways and regularly travels the world. Yet her heart lies here, with the children of South Africa. And it is here, on local ground, that she is making a difference” Hilda stated that “Tekkie Tax is an organization that does amazing work throughout the country and they work hard on a daily basis to make a remarkable difference to hundreds of welfare organisations. It is a centre for mentally disabled adults but although their bodies may be 40 or 50 years old, inside they are children, rarely above the age of 12. Tekkie Tax recently announced the amount of money that was raised this year in the first campaign. A whopping amount of R2.4 million was received from its fundraising efforts for various welfare organisations in South Africa. Tekkie Tax took place on Friday, 31 May and saw the nation dress up in their tekkies in support of a good cause. A small donation of R10 was made for the official Tekkie Tax sticker, providing a means for the project to raise funds. The proof of the success and support that this campaign had was mirrored in the people that supported it. They were from across the South African spectrum. Tekkie Tax allows donors to select charity of choice
The organisers of the well-known Casual Day campaign have launched a new annual fund raising campaign - Tekkie Tax for Friday 31 May 2013. Donors can select beneficiaries of their choice, selected from five main categories; animals, basic community welfare, children, disability or education. With a 20-year history of success, accountability and transparency, the organisation is spreading its wings to include more welfare organisations than ever before, giving South Africans an opportunity to give according to where their hearts lie. Campaign endorsed Some of the biggest NGOs in the country endorse the campaign: •Child Welfare SA •SOS Children's Villages •SPCA Tshwane •Alzheimer's Society •Hospice •South African Woman's Federation (SAVF) It has joined forces with the Foundation for Social Change through Choice (FSCC) to ensure that all monies are accounted for with 100% transparency for all beneficiaries involved. With this charitable trust (and the Board of Advisors representing the beneficiary organisations), the organisation offers the lowest cost structure possible with the most fun.
