Fred Razak, Chief Trading Strategist Comments Johannesburg, 19 June 2023: The world's leading technology giants, Meta and Microsoft, have recently witnessed a significant turnaround in their stock prices. After facing setbacks and plummeting lows due to substantial events and legal challenges, both companies have been recovering, and this month, reached a new high for 2023. Fred Razak, Chief Trading Strategist at CMTrading, analyses this development and its potential impact throughout the year. The Rise of Tech Stocks "These stocks are riding high on the immense potential of artificial intelligence (AI). Although AI has already made its mark in the market, people are starting to realise that its full-scale application will take a few more years to unfold. As this technology continues to evolve, anticipation is building regarding its vast volume and scope," explains Razak. In addition to Meta and Microsoft, Razak highlights another company, Nvidia, which is deeply invested in AI and plays a crucial role in facilitating the hardware required for its operation. Nvidia is currently experiencing a record-breaking rally, surpassing not only 2023 highs but also reaching all-time highs. Razak emphasises the importance of closely monitoring these peripheral companies that are helping drive the AI revolution. An Exciting AI Frontier "This phenomenon reminds me of past events when groundbreaking innovations hit the market. Initially, numerous players enter the scene, but eventually, only one or two companies emerge as industry leaders," Razak remarks. "With the gates wide open, the AI race is on, and companies are vying to become the dominant players. However, we should be aware that there might be major contenders with superior products on the horizon, who may not be among the first movers." Razak draws a parallel with Google, which wasn't a significant player in the early days of the internet. However, by 2001, they began gaining mainstream recognition, …

The Threats Of Cybercrime May Not Come From Cyberattacks – Fred Razak, Chief Trading Strategist Comments
Johannesburg, 9 May 2023: Cybercrime is becoming an increasingly significant issue for private businesses, individuals and government, and new threats are constantly emerging that prove it is now essential that business starts prioritising cybersecurity. What is cybercrime? Where is it coming from? And what is the expected impact on the economy? Fred Razak, Chief Trading Strategist at CMTrading, gives us his analysis. What is cybercrime, and how does it affect economies? “Just because we don’t see physical wars between powers doesn’t mean digital wars don’t exist,” he says. “Countries have been hacking each other as long as the concept has existed. There is a big market out there for these kinds of crimes, and it would be naive of us to assume that governments aren’t involved.” “A great way to weaken an opposing government is to cripple their financial sector. This is primarily why Wall Street, for example, has offsite locations and extreme security measures – to ensure markets can continue to trade,” Razak explains. “When the stock exchange floor was in New York, and 9/11 happened, and everything stood still. Oil, gold, it all went into a standstill for a few days until they could put it back together. This isn’t the case today because everything is automated.” “The issue here is that numerous governments around the world have the motive to attack each other. In the case of America, for instance, anyone from North Korea to Russia, Iran and even China may decide that they want to affect the American economy via a cyberattack. Fortunately, there are some checks in place,” says Razak. Who is responsible for protecting the system? “I should think that it’s clear that the central government of every country should represent their citizens and protect the companies that engage in business in their countries. If somebody is going after Chase Bank, then it’s the United States that needs to protect Chase Bank because it’s an American entity,” says Razak. …

The Five Questions You Need To Ask A Payment Solution Provider
Johannesburg, May 2023: With the ongoing decline in the popularity of cash, the vast majority of businesses in the modern era will need to be able to receive electronic payments of some kind or another. Whether through EFT credits, debit orders, card payments, these businesses will all require a "payment solutions provider" with access to the banks and can facilitate these payments. Unsurprisingly, who one partners with, in terms of the provision of payment solutions, can become an important decision affecting the business's day-to-day operations and impacting cash-flow and bottom-line profits. The business owner must understand who they are working with and make their decisions for a payment solution partnership from a position of knowledge. Here then, are the five questions you have to ask a payment solution provider before you agree to sign up. Are the services offered in line with my business needs? This is quite a big question and will require a business owner to understand their business thoroughly. Any payment solution provider must be able to match the needs of the company in question. While it may be obvious, for example, that a store's payment solution provider be able to take card payments, what may be less obvious is that this payment solution provider must also be able to scale for volume and grow the services offered as the business grows. In addition, the business may diversify the way it offers its products, for example offering goods on credit which may require a debit order solution for future dated payments. Flexibility from the payment solution provider will be essential for the business's long-term success. It's no good to be locked into a rigid solution that will not allow the business to do what it needs to do before the end of the contract. It's important to ask how agile any potential payment solutions providers services are, whether they offer a broad range of payment streams and solutions within the National Payment System, and …
