The 2022 Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run that will return to the ATKV Buffelspoort (North-West Province) on Sunday 05 June will treat trail runners of all ages to an on-route experience like no other. Consisting of a Long (+-24km), Short (+-12km), Fun (+-8km) and a Kids Event (2.5km), the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run caters for the entire family. “The Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run Long Route (+-24km) boasts a 526m ascent. Set in the beautiful Buffelspoort Valley, not many trail running events in and around Gauteng offer such a spectacular variety of trails that include unspoiled bushveld,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “While the terrain includes gravel roads, jeep track, bushveld single track and soft sand at some sections, runners will also have to navigate one or two technical gully sections. The 24km route is designed for the top trail runners in the sport to race against each other on a moderate distance trail. Featuring a good mixture between technical sections and fast runnable jeep track, this route is also ideal for fit and well-conditioned road runners that would like to give trail running a go. The route is not recommended for athletes that are new to running and have not yet done a half marathon on the road.” “The Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run Short Route (+-12km) will feature a 218m ascent,” continues Meyer. “This route is designed for the adventurous runner who loves to be outdoors, running in a beautiful natural environment. At times the route will be technical, but safe especially if you don’t rush things down the gully. If you can run 10km on the road, you will have a blast on this route. It is also perfect for runners that are new to the sport of trail running or the sport of running in general. Our advice is to take it slowly through the gully.” “The Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run Fun Run (+-8km) features a mild 143m ascent, making it perfect for younger runners and the family as a whole,” confirms Meyer. “This …

With four events to choose from (a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Fun Ride and Kids Event) the Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic is ideal for the entire family. “The Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic caters for mountain bikers of all ages,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “One of the North-West Provinces most revered one day MTB races, the Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic Marathon consist of a +-65km route that boasts a 1433m ascent. The terrain consists of a good mixture of gravel roads, jeep track, rocky single track, soft sandy sections, technical climbs and downhills. The inclusion of untouched Magaliesberg Mountain trails and indigenous bushveld makes this route one of the most beautiful MTB routes in and around Gauteng and the North-West Province. The ‘Monster Climb’ up Breedts Nek is ready for riders. Ideal for experienced and fit mountain bikers, the Marathon is definitely not recommended as a first time MTB race.” “The Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic Half Marathon consists of a +-31km route that features a 711m ascent,” continues Meyer. “The terrain includes gravel roads, rocky single and jeep track, soft sand at some sections, technical climbs and descents. Although this route does not include the iconic ‘Monster Climb’, riders will have a ‘Mini Monster Climb’ to contend with. The ascent is shorter but steeper than the ‘Monster Climb’ of the Marathon. Most riders won’t be able to ride the entire section as it gets too steep. The racing snakes that are able to ride it will be able to open up a healthy lead. Although it’s not ‘The Monster’, the Half Marathon will be tough, yet fun and is perfect for younger competitors that are wanting to race in a highly competitive environment. It is also perfect …

Female Running stars announced for the 2022 Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K
Following the recent announcement of Daniel Simiu Ebenyo (Kenya), one of the world’s leading male stars, the organisers of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series have announced the participation of two global female super stars: Stella Chesang and Mercyline Chelangat (both from Uganda) at the 7th annual Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K on Sunday 15 May 2022. Chesang and Chelangat will return to South Africa after a very successful (and exciting) display of racing at the 2018 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. “Having these two athletes back in SA to run in the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K is really exciting both for the event and the sport of road running in SA and Africa – they are two of the super stars of international road running!” said Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of SA’s leading 10km road running series. “Our goal is to have the World’s best runners compete against SA’s best on home soil, and ensure the event is a truly international event. Having Stella and Mercyline run in the Cape Town event is enormously exciting!” Chesang won the 2018 Commonwealth Games 10 000m title. Shortly after this victory, Chesang made her SA debut when she took on the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 12K. A surprising upset saw her being beaten by Jackline Chepngeno (Kenya) at this event. Chesang returned to South Africa in October that year, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series bug had clearly bitten, to smash a stellar field in the Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K with a winning time of 31:14, smashing both the women’s course record and the Ugandan National 10km record, while coming within one second of the SA All Comers record. This was also a 30 second improvement on her personal best. Picking up where she left off in 2018, in 2019 Chesang set personal bests in the 5000m (15:00.72), 10 000m (31:38.70) and over 12km (38:09 Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 12K). After a three-year hiatus due to the Covid Pandemic, and the birth of her son in April 2020, Chesang …
