Annual Event Attracting 100,000 Participants Will Focus On Inspiring Creativity In Education Registration Now Open For Individuals And Teams From Across The Globe; Month-long Competition Begins On World Creativity Day, April 21, 2022 The BIC Corporate Foundation announces its title sponsorship of the sixth edition of Ideas World Cup, the largest brainstorming event in the world where individuals and teams from cities around the globe compete to solve a social issue using the power of creative thinking. This year’s theme, How Can We Inspire Creativity In Education, was selected by the BIC Corporate Foundation for its universal need, the potential for global impact, and a direct reflection of the Foundation’s core belief that creativity in education is a cornerstone of personal progress and societal change. Ideas World Cup is a month-long not-for-profit competition founded in 2014 by Juan Prego, a pioneer in teaching organisations and teams from all sectors to unlock the power of creative thinking and rewire their cultures to be more inventive. Each year, Ideas World Cup rewards projects that have the potential to be implemented locally, nationally, or globally with prizes to help bring their idea to life. This year, the winner will also have access to mentors from the BIC Corporate Foundation’s Corporate Community of Practice, a global coalition of educators, researchers, foundations, artists, and NGOs to help maximise their idea’s impact. “Ideas World Cup is a true celebration of human creativity,” said Mr Prego. “We connect people from all over the world and tap into their inner creative power, proving that if we join heads, hearts, and hands, we can solve some of the most difficult global problems we face. Everyone can be creative, and through that creativity, we can forge a brighter future.” This year’s theme asks participants to ideate how creativity can evolve from an abstract concept into an applied foundational element of the learning …
Mars Petcare launches Buy One, Feed One campaign to help ease feeding challenges for abandoned pets
A number of animal rescue organisations across South Africa have seen an influx of surrendered pets as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. In an effort to alleviate the pressure that this has placed on shelters, Mars Petcare has launched the Buy One, Feed One campaign. For every PEDIGREE® or WHISKAS® product purchased, a meal will be donated to a furry friend in need. The pandemic has placed a serious financial burden on South Africans, resulting in many needing to surrender their pets. The Animal Welfare Society of South Africa (AWSSA) reported a 100% increase in the rate of surrendered cats and kittens between October and November 2021, while the rate of surrendered dogs and puppies increased by 23% in October, with a further spike of 55% in November 2021. The MARS Petcare Buy One, Feed One campaign will take place in April and May, and run across all product ranges at leading supermarkets and retailers countrywide. Mars Petcare would like to encourage all pet parents to support by purchasing PEDIGREE® or WHISKAS® products to feed not only their fur babies but also a friend in need. Where possible, Mars Petcare also asks South Africans who are able, to consider adopting a pet to help the overburdened sanctuaries that they will be supporting through the Buy One, Feed One campaign. These include the Woodrock Animal Rescue, Soweto Animals Rescue and Advisory Centre and Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG). “We have seen the number of abandoned pets increase over the last two years and understanding the additional layer of stress that this has placed on the sanctuaries, we would like to play our part in supporting them through our Buy One, Feed One campaign,” says Andy Wright, Marketing Director at Mars Petcare. About Mars Petcare Mars Petcare forms part of a global company, Mars, Incorporated, a family-owned business with more than a century of history making diverse products and offering services for people and the pets people love, with almost 100,000 …

Red Lab’s Red Light Therapy – a game changer for sports recovery
With Red Light Therapy (RLT) now easily accessible to South Africans via Red Lab’s versatile at-home offering, athletes are now able to incorporate this game changing treatment into their pre-season training to relieve aching muscles and shorten recovery time. It is often argued that recovery is the most important part of any exercise and training programme, but it’s also one of the hardest things to do! In order to enhance your personal fitness, or to progress in any sport, you have to subject your body to various stresses, such as weightlifting, sprinting, endurance runs, and the likes. But upon completion, the human body needs to adapt to these stresses - a process we call the recovery stage. The whole purpose of recovery in exercise is to allow your muscles to adequately repair themselves. During the recovery phase, muscles repair, regenerate and strengthen in order to tolerate a higher level of strain the next time they’re engaged. In other words, taking time to heal makes you stronger and less susceptible to future injuries. But as much as we know this to be true, it’s all too easy to be tempted to skip a recovery day - especially in the middle of training hard for an upcoming event when you can least afford to take a day of rest. The good news is that there are ways to speed up recovery. Physical rest, hydration, proper nutrition, contrast therapy, ice baths and massage are all well known contributors to recovery. New on the block, however, is Red Light Therapy - a non-invasive, and effective light therapy treatment that’s growing in popularity amongst trainers and athletes to improve cell performance and blood circulation essential for tissue and muscle recovery. It works by using LEDs to deliver red and near infrared wavelengths that deeply penetrate the skin and cells, speed up muscle repair and minimise pain and swelling. The therapy accelerates the healing process by enhancing macrophage activity responsible for the white blood cell’s …
