Gateway set to honour and celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela
From the 17th to the 28th of July 2013 visitors to Gateway Theatre of Shopping will be able to write a message to Nelson Mandela on one of the ten glass pillars that will be displayed at Gateway’s exhibition area opposite the Info Desk. Messages can include; Birthday wishes, Nelson Mandela Day pledges and messages celebrating and honouring Madiba. The ten glass pillars are a celebration of Mandela’s life. “Gateway would like to embrace and celebrate the life of the man who is known as ‘The Father of the Nation’,” says Akash Maharaj, Centre Manager at Gateway Theatre of Shopping. At the end of July, the glass pillars will be moved to the Centre Management garden where they will be on display. Gateway’s Blanket Drive To celebrate Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July Gateway Theatre of Shopping is hosting a blanket drive to support C.S.R.M (Christian Salvation and Restoration Ministries). C.S.R.M is committed to demonstrating compassion by addressing poverty through community relief and development. The non-profit organization aims to uplift the lives of the underprivileged. Abuse against women and children, the elderly and orphans is the organization’s key focus. Visitors to Gateway from 17 to 28 July are welcome to donate a blanket to Christian Salvation and Restoration Ministries. A box will be placed at the Nelson Mandela stand at Gateway’s Garden Court where blankets can be dropped off. “Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity; it is an act of justice. The 5th of July will see Gateway’s Vodacom Durban July Preview Fashion Show at the Wave House from 7:15pm. The fashion show will feature over 20 of South Africa’s top fashion designers including; Terrence Bray, Gideon, Andre Martin, Zama Mathe, Kathrin Kidger and Colleen Eitzen, to name a few. POSH Style tips – how to dress for race day this year • Remember that the whole point of the Vodacom Durban July is to stand out – go all out. You can’t be overdressed at this event. • Make sure you can stay up in your shoes. We all know that high heels and stilettos tend to sink into the grass. When it comes to shoes the aim is to be comfortable in them, all day. • Don’t leave your outfit for the last minute and panic two days before the event – you’ll end up throwing things together. Planning is essential. Select a colour – think lilac, champagne and dusty pink to suit the theme.
